School Property questions

Ok I read through the laws pertaining to a school. I also browsed through definitions and didn't see any for schools. Here is my question. Are schools past 12th grade off limits. (i.e. college, seminary, campus or other higher learning facility) ?
It seems to me that they could be considered a school, but my understanding is that school refers to daycare -12th grade.

I just want to recap what is off limits for CCW and make sure I have it correct. Schools, Airports, Riverboat Casino, and Federal buildings because of Federal law.

Any other places that are off limits legally?

Thanks

Schools are up to 12th grade. Beyond that, they are colleges, universities, etc. Where you can get jammed up on a college campus is if they have a daycare somewhere. Then it kind of depends on how much they want to push it. Even if you didn't get convicted of the felony, you could potentially be charged w/ it and it would cost you a small fortune to fight it.
Check w/ your state rep/sen. There are a couple of bills being introduced @ the statehouse to offer us some more protection in this area. But they are going to need all the help we can give!

+1. I lived in a college apartment building (off-campus even) for a year and found out near the end of the year that they had a head-start program in the basement.

Also, they could issue you a ban/trespass notice and you would be unable to return to the university's property. For some people this isn't an issue, for others it's a problem.

If it is a state school then you cannot carry. However if it is a privately runned school (does not recieve the majority of contributions from the state) then it is up to them.

I know in northwest indiana, Purdue Calumet will let you check in your weapon with security. For Indiana University Northwest, a Friend of mine is on the police force there. He says that it is incouraged that you do not carry, but there is no rule against it.

I suggest asking the school before you carry. It is a quick phone call that could save you a big hassle in the long run.

Of course you can. Indiana code refers to K-12 only. Colleges are only CPZ's by order of the individual schools' administrative rules.

Concealed is concealed and if you needed it and did not have it I would rather go in front of 12 than 1

As Scutter said, you legally can carry at a state school, but (like you said) they will give you a hassle and probably ask you to leave. So you can carry as long as no one sees it.
