I was kinda scared people were gonna be nasty, slamming doors, siccing dogs on us, waving baseball bats at us, etc. I'd never done anything like this, so I pretty much let Jim take the lead. For the most part people either didn't answer the door or weren't home, but those who did were fairly supportive, some were open to listening and one woman even told us that McCain is too socialist for her but he's better than Obama, so he's got her vote! We weren't out for a hard sell, we were there more to gather information on where people stand. This is also the contentious Porter/Titus area, but most of the support we heard was for Porter rather than Titus. Very encouraging.
Anyway, there really wasn't much in the way of food. No bbq, no spread...just a couple big trays of fried chicken from Vons and some prepackaged sides and cookies. Plenty of water and pop though, which is much appreciated. I'm kinda disappointed in the lack of organization in the GOP here in Clark county though. The only way I heard of this was through a PM from Jim. I went to get more info on the Clark county GOP web site, on the Nevada GOP web site and the national GOP web site in their "events by state" listing and there was NOTHING! I don't know about other people, but I don't tend to show up for events/activities I don't know about. As I was leaving the office, I was kinda surprised nobody tried to stop me and ask for more help another day. I got a "thanks for your help" and the Vice Chair gave me his card. These are the things the Dems have been doing for years, trying to motivate and engage volunteers and voters and it seems the Republicans are failing.
