I need help in Texas

I was born in Texas and go back each Dove season. My son is there and I need to know to get a hunting license for him. I need to know what the cut off birthday is that you need a hunter safety course for. And how much the course cost is in Texas. Any help would be great. Thanks

Under 12 years, you must be accompanied* by a person 17 years of age or older licensed to hunt in Texas.
note: minimum age for certification is 12 years of age.

* "Accompanied" means being within normal voice control of the licensed adult hunter.

Thanks I was sure he would need to take the course.
Anyone have any idea how much the course cost and I will pay to have him take it. We will be hunting and he can take the course around Wichita Falls, TX.

Thanks

The course is usually free of charge.

Just have him call a sporting goods store, such as Oshman's. They will be able to point him to a course.

i paid $5 or $7 i think. you'd better hurry! it's way late in the year for the course and they fill up fast if not already full.

i'm in dfw and there weren't that many available within a reasonable drive from where i live. i would suspect wichita falls is even tighter.

my dad and i are going opening day, our 11th year in a row. good coffe, conversation and giving each other a hard time. it just doesn't get any better than that.
