How to obtain a CCW in GA?
From what I remember, it is a rather cumbersome process. Where do I start?

I did a little research on the Hall County webiste and found that is in fact the case. I am in Arizona now and you have to take an 8 hour course but it looks like you get one if you can answer no to all the typical questions and pass the background. Nice.

As long as you don't have a criminal history and no drug offenses you can get a Georgia Firearms License. It is an easy process.
Check out www.GeorgiaCarry.org for more details.
Check that ... go to www.GeorgiaPacking.org and then click on the tab at the top that says FIREARMS LICENSE. Check out the forum on that site too.

The process time has become much shorter in many counties especially those with livescan fingerprint capabilty now.

Very straight forward, easy process in Columbia County. No questions asked, finger printed in Probate Court office. Paid part of the fee up front and remainder when I picked up the permit. Had to wait about six weeks.
