Fluid head tripod

Hello everyone, been busy a while and hope u all had a happy thanksgiving,i had an unique problem with my Velbon video lll tripod,it was purchased many yrs ago and the pan head tension adjuster knob had fell out yrs back, the knob also works as a fastener to hold the pandhead securely ,the head have a wing nut for locking the tilt and pan functions,if the wing nut on the pan head is loose, the whole pan head can fall out if i turn the tripod upside down , i had noticed there were some slimy fluid came out of the panhead and thought it must be the fluid that make the pan and tilt action smooth, now i have a replacement tension knob from the factory and not the fluid,i think u all know whats my next questin is, i have 4 choices, find the right fluid, order a replacement pan head, buy a whole new tripod,or use a rubber band trick, this tripod is very durable and not a cheapy at the time i purchased it, just dont feel like to spent close to $100 for a new one( thats the price i am willing to spend ),any insight is welcome, thanks in advance.

I have a shelf in the garage with three broken tripods on it.

Stuff breaks.

Look at CraigsList or Ebay (powersellers only with a 95% positive rating) and you will find a good deal.
