Do wireless range extenders work?
I'd like to get one of these......do they work?
The Linksys brand is $100, but is it worth it?
How easy are they to set up/install on an unsecured wireless network?
Thanks

If you're a gamer who uses wireless you might not like them. If not, then have at it. I'm sure setup has improved from the time when I bought and returned a Linksys repeater.

Increased latency over the wireless connection. I have a Linksys WAP54G access point that I use as a wireless repeater, since the signal from my router (WRT54G2) is terrible on the first floor of my house and the router is on the second floor. I can notice a delay just browsing the internet.

But it works better than if you did not have the repeater, right?

It works pretty well, actually. Just a slight delay as the access point bounces the signal over to the router.
As an aside, the WRT54G2 and the WAP54G both support WPA2, as well, so you can keep the network secure.
