2nd Generation G19 with history
My Glock 19 is an old soldier, purchased new in 1992 and in service since. (Serial number is XA...). It was part of a group ordered for a police department who then decided they really wanted Glock 17s. A group of us, all federal agents, bought the Glock 19s for a good price as personally owned weapons to replace the Browning HPs we were carrying. The older slide finish looks kind of dull compared to the newer ones, but is still holding up fine. If I can figure out how to do it, I'll eventually post a photo, but it looks like any other Glock with a bit of wear.
This Glock has served in South America and in Europe as well as many years in the USA. It went on some drug raids and got me out of two riots. Mostly it just went along for the ride until I retired. I still have not replaced it and will probably keep it for ever.
If anyone has an old Glock that has some character, I would love to see a photo. Once I figure out how to do so, I'll put mine up.

Thanks for your service. You are correct the 2nd gens have the dull finish as oppossed to the 3rd gens. Hope you can figure out how to post pics. There should be a stickey somewhere about it. I used photobucket when I have posted in the past. I would like to see how much wear is evident on the pistol after all those years of carry.

I have owned Glock 19's since 1991 and have loved them eversince. I have a 2nd gen with my birthdate in the serial number that means alot to me. I have shot everything through that gun that I could think of, even stuff they say not to.. Still takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

92 must've been a good year! I turned 21 that year and bought my Glock 19 2nd gen as soon as the gun shop opened on my birthday!
I didn't CCW it much so it's remained in very good shape. It does have that very dull finish, but I prefer the 2nd gen frame head and shoulders above the 3rd gen frames.
It still sees range time but my new Glock 26 is my primary CCW now.

I, too, have an old Gen II G19 (1994) that serves me well for CCW and has for many years. I'd post a few pics but it's at the GLOCK factory at present getting a Trijicon night sight upgrade. My 2005 G36 is standing in until the G19 gets back home.
Thanks for your service. Congrats on your retirement. I'm looking forward to seeing your G19. I love GLOCKs with wear and tear on 'em. Character guns.

My origional duty gun was a G19 (EMxxxUS) and I wish I could get it back. It kept me out of trouble several times. You cannot go wrong with a G19!

I have an "EM" G19 too.....bought it used but barely fired seven years ago. I love the Gen Twos.....A close friend of mine has his which was recovered from the wreckage of the WTC. Glock replaced the frame which was cracked but left the slide as is to preserve its character.

I have a 2nd Gen 19 and prefer the dull finish on it. I find it easier to grip the slide to chamber a round. I find the newer finish to be slippery - but I'm probably an oddball.
Well, I know I'm an oddball...

My oldest Glock, G21, is from 2000. My Glock 19 is a 2006. I've got a long way to go still. Both are showing some holster wear. Me like!
