Why are cameras cheaper in Canada than the US?

As a Canadian I can't complain. But our currency is worth 20% less and yet...cameras of all things are cheaper in Canada?

Example:
750 dollars for an XSI with 18-55 lens on BestBuy's USA website
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1205537713445

And 620 dollars Canadian (510 dollars US!) on Futureshop Canada's website, Futureshop is a company owned by Best Buy
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...63&catid=22553

Even BestBuy's Canadian website has it slightly cheaper, and a LOT cheaper with the exchange rate.

Glocks are a lot more expensive up here, as are MOST things...but cameras are the only thing I can think of that are cheaper?

How about US $634 from a reputable store:

Also, store prices do not immediately follow currency fluctuations. Don't forget that just 1.5 months ago, US $ was less than CA $ 0.95.

Bingo!!

Not to mention, you're govt doesn't allow your citizens to defend themselves with cameras.

Best Buy is not a cheap place to buy camera gear, unless it's on sale.
I've found B&H's prices lower even then Amazon.com on gear, that's where I usually buy my stuff online.
