Just moved to AZ

I just moved to Surprise. Man, this place sure beats the hell outta Korea. Where do I need to go and what do I need to do while I'm here?

If you have never been to the Grand Canyon, head north for the day. Beautiful thing to see. If you are looking for things to do up in the mountains near Flagstaff (7,000'), let me know. Flagstaff is two hours and a world away from PHX area.

I have my PA CCW. AZ has reciprocity with PA. Since I'm not sure if I'm going to be here past June I'm probably not going to get a AZ CCW. If I find out that I'll be here longer I'll go ahead and o that.

I definitely want to go back to Flagstaff. I spent a night there when I was on my way to Vegas in 05.

Ben Avery is a very nice range. It's up on the West side of I-17 on SR74 (Carefree Highway).

I remember when that town was just a dusty trailer park in the 70's and 80's.

Now the Surpise is, it's a nice place to live.

Surprise is awesome. Nice neighborhoods and very quiet. Unfortunately, El Mirage is right next door and I can't say the same for it.

Sedona is a nice place to take the S/O if you have one.

There is a great mix of everything in this area, just depends on what you are into.

Don't get an AZ drivers license then. If you are an AZ resident you must have an AZ ccw permit.

Park in your garage, keep the door closed. Read the Arizona Republic and believe the opposite. Enjoy the desert all winter, spend some time around Wickenburg.

What's up in Wickenburg? It doesn't look to be too far away. Any suggestions for things to do up there?

Take a stroll through the Desert Caballeros Museum for a look at the past history and some good art and western articles. The Vulture Mine is worth the short drive out of town. You get to sign a release and wander around a famous old gold mine. "Vulture City" and Wickenburg were happening places before Phoenix was much of anything. Try the Rancho Bar 7 for lunch or dinner.

+1, Wickenburg is nice. Take the back way up to Prescott.

Not too many places. Work has been keepin me busy. I went to the Wildlife World Zoo a while back. Went to the White Tanks and Buckeye not too long ago. I still haven't made it to Wickenburg. I think I'll make it there this week.

What paper do you suggest then? I might be working out there for another two years and would like to know what paper to read. I listen to 92.3 around PHX and 104.1 when in Tucson

I don't know of any good papers in the area. The Republic used to be more conservative years ago, but unfortunately it isn't any longer.
