I fired these Hornady Custom .257 Roberts +P 117 BTSP's in my .257 Roberts Ackley Improved chambered rifle. The cases are 'fireformed' to fit the new chamber. The shoulder is 'blown out' from approx 20° to 40° and the case body taper is reduced to create more powder capacity. Then I can reload them for more accuracy, velocity, energy, etc. The .257 RAI approaches (usu. within 100fps) the .25-'06 as far as ballistic qualities but with less powder used and less barrel throat erosion. It is considered the most efficient of the 'quarterbores' (.25 caliber) cartridges.
