I fired these Hornady Custom .257 Roberts +P 117 BTSP's in my .257 Roberts Ackley Improved chambered rifle. The cases are 'fireformed' to fit the new chamber. The shoulder is 'blown out' from approx 20 to 40 and the case body taper is reduced to create more powder capacity. Then I can reload them for more accuracy, velocity, energy, etc. The .257 RAI approaches (usu. within 100fps) the .25-'06 as far as ballistic qualities but with less powder used and less barrel throat erosion. It is considered the most efficient of the 'quarterbores' (.25 caliber) cartridges.
